Welcome! Despite being extremely remote we are still able to provide our students with a first class education. The
Eastern
Sierra
Unified
School District serves to educate the students in the following communities: Topaz, Coleville,
Walker ,
Bridgeport , Lee Vining,
June
Lake ,
Benton and Chalfant.
Last year our District became a "Basic Aide" school district. This has allowed us to become more financially independent than in previous school years. Some specific examples of using our financial independence include: All of our students in grades 7 - 12 receive a lap top computer for their educational use 24/7; Every elementary school in the District offers After School Programs that provide remedial intervention, enrichment activities and athletic competition. Furthermore, all of our schools are meeting the AYP goals established by No Child Left Behind (NCLB).
Our primary goals for this school year are to meet every student's academic needs and to have all of our schools score over 800 on their API's. As outlined in our strategic plan, we will work to accomplish these goals by improving communication and by improving our resource allocation methods.
Finally, passage of a bond in 2004 has meant that modernization of nearly all of our schools could take place. By the end of next summer all of our modernization projects will be completed and our students will be the beneficiaries of this work for decades to come.
